This is not just another bundle of presets where you get a bunch of useless files you use once and forget about them. Packs like that are a dime a dozen. Frankly, there are way too many presets out there and very few photographers actually teaching what they USE.
Before I tell you more about the Signature Presets let me tell you a true story about what really pushed me to creating it in the first place. Last year, my publisher had ordered a book on Venice, Italy. It was something we had discussed for a while, and something I was very passionate about.
I remember I was on vacation in Florida and my publisher called me and asked to deliver all my retouched photos in about 10 days. There was a misunderstanding and I thought I had 3 months! I had 3,000 RAW files to go through and give 110 great photos within 10 days. My dream of publishing a book on Venice was coming true, but I was going to miss my opportunity! This was the end of my vacation…
To be able to see if a photo is good enough I would spend a lot of time finding the right exposure and contrast. But the hardest thing is to find the right colors playing with White Balance, Temperature, Hue, Saturation and Luminance sliders.
Some raw files are so dull that unless it is a bit ‘pre-developed’ you can’t see it’s real potential.
After spending a lot of time starting over on every photo, I decided to create 5 presets for each time of the day ; 5 for sunsets, 5 for Golden Hour, 5 for daylight etc…
Using presets is only a starting point and you can totally adopt them to your style. Every artist is different and will have it’s own interpretation of the scene. These presets will give you a good base and you can express yourself from there.
Here you can see an example of a sunset and golden hour preset:

Priceless

I want to be clear about something, I am giving you the crucial skills to get you the farthest the fastest. Yes you can learn these in a few hours of concentrated study, but that doesn’t mean you are instantly going to become a master and anyone who promises you that is simply lying.
With my course, I’m trying to save you the thousands of hours I spent learning the wrong way not to mention the thousands of dollars on classes, seminars, workshops spent which while many of them were great, failed to put the pieces together in a way that instantly made sense to me.
In short: I want you to avoid all the dead ends, wasted time and wasted money so that every moment you spend improving your skills is not time wasted and instead you can watch your results skyrocket as you apply yourself to these fundamentals.
I know well how frustrating it is to have a great camera and not be able to use it to its full potential. You quickly go from being excited about taking photos to simply never being able to find the time to do it. This course will give you the confidence and technical know-how to make you want to get out and take professional looking photos as often as possible. Never again will you say to yourself “my smartphone photos will be fine.” Don’t get me wrong, smartphones are great, but they are nowhere close to the results you get from a great camera when you know what you are doing. And Beginning Photography is going to take you to that next level.
And on top of that I’ve added a bunch of other courses into the mix in case you want to take your entire creative skillset to the next level.
One of my favorite lessons from the curriculum is this introduction to basic shot types, which you can get here. Now imagine hours and hours of easy to understand but powerful applicable technique to creating film That is what you can have access to today.
The problem with courses that only have a video library is that they quickly become outdated. Adobe and other software developers are rolling out new features and making changes to their software on a regular basis. This means techniques that worked 6 months ago might not work today.
The other big problem with courses is that people gain access to a massive library of tips, tactics and strategies, but don't know where to start. They feel lost without any personal guidance or support.
I solved both of these problems by creating an incredible Facebook group, the "Kelvin Designs Community", where I can work personally with all of my students.
I'm frequently creating and giving my students new footage from around the world that they can use for any project or product, royalty free.
When you get this bundle, you also get every update for software and workflow that is to come. Making high quality film means also staying up to date!
"Dare has made a habit of making himself an irreplaceable member of any crew who is lucky enough to have him. Dare is an excellent editor who isn’t afraid to try a cut that a director may hate but end up using because Dare knows how to make things work. But Darius can do more than edit a picture or tv show; he can camera operate, fix camera problems, make your shot composition better, make special effects and most importantly help you deliver every element that a studio or streaming service requires in this crazy complicated new medium. Anyone who sincerely wants to learn about editing, film and tv production would do very well to listen to him."
Sure there are a lot of great courses out there and I’ve done a lot of them. But I’ve never found a course that put together the key things that I had to know, in an exact sequence so that anyone could learn it and then at the end of it be able to go out and take great photos and know that I could. This is the course and the information I wish I had when I started.
I’m thrilled every time an amateur photographer writes me to tell me that they took their photography, shooting or editing skills to the next level because of my courses and instruction. I’m even more thrilled when a professional creative tells me the same thing.

I personally don’t like larger courses that don’t offer you a step by step path to learning the skills being taught. To make sure you maximize your time with Beginning Photography I’ve put together an exact checklist with detailed exercises that will take you from zero to hero in no time.
The course comes with RAW files that you can practice and examine as you go through the course. The Editing Course also comes with practice footage you can cut together to follow the lessons.

I grew up with a love of storytelling. By the time I was five I had discovered the magic of cinema and between free Sunday movies at the local matinee and writing stories every day, my head was filled with magic and adventure. When I was nine, I got to meet several of my literary and cinematic heroes while visiting a Hollywood talent agency and was given this timeless advice: “If you truly want to be an artist, never give up and always strive to do a better job, to tell a better story.”
I’ve spent the last 33 years of my life in pursuit of that goal as a visual storyteller, to tell a better story. In addition to the classes, masterclasses, and ridiculous amounts of on the job training, I have spent tens of thousands of hours honing my craft and becoming a highly paid professional. I’ve worked for most of the major studios as well as a number of the new streaming services such as Netflix and worked with many top name talent in the film industry, always learning and doing my best to tell a better story.
But also during this time I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of promising artists give up on their careers because of the length of time it was taking them to get good enough to start landing paying work. So I started mentoring people and was consistently seeing by teaching them a very specific skill set, I could have them not only taking great pictures and capturing excellent looking video rapidly, they started landing paying work so they could build a career.
Soon I was getting way more requests for mentoring than I could handle while still also doing my day job, so I created Dare Cinema and began creating online instruction to help share these vital ingredients of success with anyone who was interested. Dare Cinema was a venue for me to share knowledge, insights and common experiences on the journey of filmmaking while I continued to write screenplays and tackle directing feature films.
My videos and blogs cover camera techniques, film philosophy, storytelling solutions, scriptwriting, budgeting and scheduling films and pretty much anything else I can think of that will help you make your movies.
I know there are a lot of filmmaking and photography websites and courses out there, but I hope you enjoy my focus on substance over style and the nuts and bolts approach to what it really takes to make movies and succeed as a visual storyteller.
THESE BRANDS HAVE COMMISSIONED AND DISTRIBUTED MY WORK
"I started not knowing anything, just a very strong passion. Within hours, I was producing videos that some of my friends couldn't do after years of experience. There's no shame in taking the time to learn, instead of trying to just figure it out. I'm simply loving this goldmine of usable knowledge."
Without a hesitation or shadow of a doubt yes.
While strictly speaking you could do the Beginning Photography Course without a camera, I really don’t recommend it. Learning photography is best done with a camera and a couple interchangeable lenses.
Any camera with an interchangeable lens will work great. It doesn’t matter if it’s Nikon, Sony, Canon, Leica, Fuji or whatever brand you have. It doesn’t have to be expensive either. Lots of great cameras available used online for a great price. I also cover in the course my advice on choosing a camera as it can be a daunting subject for some.
The beginning photography course consists of 4 hours of video lessons along with a bunch of recommended practicals on how to use what I’m teaching you so that you practice, practice, practice. If you really focused you could get through the whole course in a day, but I’d still recommend taking a couple photographic outings to practice your skills as you go.
There are a number of great editing programs out there and while you could do this course and still get a lot out of it on the other editing programs, it really is designed for Premiere. You can always pick up a 30 day free trial to try it out.
You can use any version of Premiere after 2015, it just have to have been after the release of creative cloud. There are a lot of similarities with Adobe Premiere Elements as well but it isn’t really a fully compatible course for Elements. I think Adobe Premiere Pro is the absolute best all around editing program out there and if you are serious about video editing and photography, the Creative Suite is the software package to have. The course itself is done on Adobe Premiere CC2015 and while they continually add improvements, the interface is essentially the same and the course will work just fine even if you are using CC2019. On top of that, I really do stick to the Basics in the course so regardless of what year your software is, the course will work.
